        My fine handmade English double basses are based on the great London double bass makers/luthiers of the early 19th Century such as Kennedy, Fendt, Lott & Hart. The size is solidly in the centre of what is considered today’s standard size instrument (3/4), a back measuring 113 cm long (excluding back button) with a string length of 105.5 cm. as standard. All wood is bought in some years in advance and is considered dry at the time of purchase, for example current wood for fronts were felled between 1977 and 1982. All instruments are fitted with high quality fittings, to the customer choice where required and removable extensions can be fitted. 5 string and left handed basses can be made to order as can custom instruments and copies.       This double bass differs from my standard English model flat back just in respect to the carved back. The back's arching and  constructional details are made  after the style of Panormo.
